Abstract:

This pack includes a series of design sheets intended to offer guidance to those concerned with the accessibility of sports and leisure facilities. Stephen Thorpe sets out the scene and considers the design of basic features common to a variety of sports buildings. Design sheets include swimming pools; audience and spectator seating; countryside recreation and nature trails; showers and changing cubicles. The design sheets have good illustrations. A summary of the legislation on designing buildings to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities is also included.
