Spaces In The Home: Bathrooms and WCs

Author: Claxton, K
Year: 1972
Type: Book

Abstract:

It is a continuing challenge to designers to provide affordable housing solutions which best meet people's needs and wishes. The author hopes that this booklet helps meet that challenge. The recommendations are based largely on research undertaken by the Housing Development Group of the Dept. of the Environment, U.K. As part of the research, bathrooms and private dwellings in local authority were surveyed to obtain basic information on what people felt about their bathrooms. While many people were fairly satisfied with the facilities in their bathroom, they were often less satisfied with its size. This bulletin sets out minimum activity spaces for each appliance rather than give a floor area for the whole bathroom.
