Author: National Council on Intellectual Disability (Australia),
Year: 1992
Type: Journal Article

Abstract:

The brief items in this article are based on reponses of the following organisations - A.C.T. Council on Intellectual Disability, Active Foundation, Victorian Action on Intellectual Disability, Community Living Access & Support Services Victoria, and Community and Institutions Parents' Associations on Intellectual Ability - to the National Housing Strategy Discussion Paper: The Housing Needs of People with Disabilities. According to the editor, one noticeable feature of these responses is that there is a high degree of acceptance of a need to provide funding support from sources other than government so that people with disabilities do not have to bear the burden of limited government funding. People with disabilities have a right to a higher place on government priorities and that lower quality or less government funded services will not be accepted in order to satisfy government financial priorities.
