Abstract:

This paper discusses the performance of government and the profitability of industry in delivering housing satisfaction to elderly australians. A long time frame and broad frame of reference are needed to evaluate performance. The paper explores the diversity and change in individuals' ageing experiences, explores the meaning of the home and the influence of home and neighbourhood on the independence of older people. The paper concludes by suggesting innovative approaches to the provision of housing options that meet the diverse demands and needs of older people.
