Abstract:

This report examines questions about the living standards of older Australians compared to the overall population, variations in living standards amongst the elderly population, and change over time. The report uses data from the Asutralian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Household Expenditure Surveys (HES) from 1988-89 to 2003-04, and the ABS Surveys of Income and Housing (SIH) from 03-04 and 07-08.
