Home Injury Risk Assessment Profile For Use With Older People Living In Their Own Homes.

Author: Curtin University of Technology Centre for Advanced Studies in Health Sciences,
Year: 1990
Type: Report

Abstract:

This publication is designed to be used by people who do not have formal training in health care but who are aware of the fact that older people are at considerable risk of injuries in their homes and would like to assist them in reducing this risk. It is intended for use with older people who, at the time of assessment, are not being treated by a health professional, specifically to reduce their risk of falls. It can also be used by older people themselves. The environmental components included are not only hazards that contribute to the occurrence of injuries but also hazards that may increase the severity of injuries, or make the summoning of help, after an injury has occurred, more difficult.
