Objective: To determine the effectiveness of home modification on wuality of life of wheel chair y sers with spinal cord injuries. Methodology: Community-based randomised control trial was carried out from Jan-Dec 2012 with 40 parapalegic wheel chair users. LiSAT scores were calculated and the group divided into two groups: control and experiment. Home modifications were carried out for the experiment group including, wheel chair accessible doors, ramps, rails, bath seats, and non-slip surfaces. Questionnaires and interviews were carried out before and two months after the modifications. Results: The quality of life was significantly improved for the experiment/modificaton group, with the mean LiSAT score of 33.32 (p=0.001) compared to 11074 (p=0.154) for the control. Conclusion: Home modifications are effective in enhancing the quality of life of parapalegic wheel chair users.
