Abstract:

In January 2002 the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) released a Directions Report titled Disability Discrimination Act: Disability Standard on Access to Premises advising on the reasons and processes for developing a standard covering access to buildings. Information sessions were held in each of the capital cities to provide the community with an opportunity to understand why changes in building regulations are taking place and how the proposed changes will be developed. Speakers included representatives from the ABCB, Disability Sector, Property Council of Australia, Attorney-General's Department and the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. This CD contains video footage of the speeches and other helpful information from the information sessions.
