Abstract:

This article discusses the importance of good bathroom design for the elderly and disabled people. The article discusses modifications that can be made to bathrooms to assist elderly and disabled people use them safely such as the instillation of handrails, the use of grab-bars and the use of a one-piece shower stall so elderly and disabled people can use the toilets without injuring themselves. The article also discusses other forms of modification such as non slip floors and leaver handled taps which are easier for people with arthritis to use
