Rural Rehabilitation: A Modern Perspective

Author: Mann, W. C.
Year: 1998
Type: Book Section

Abstract:

About 25% of the total elderly population live in non-urban areas of the United States. Income levels are lower for rural elderly. The University at Buffalo Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Aging studied a sample of 47 rural- living elders and compared them to a sample of 452 non-rural elders on demographic factors, health, functional, and psychosocial status and the use of assistive devices and home modifications. The results of this comparison are presented in this chapter.
