Subject: Student Supervisor Practice Package (version 2) release
The Specialist, Placement and Recruitment (SPAR) Unit, Clinical Innovation and Governance would like to announce the release of the Student Supervisor Practice Package (version 2).
The Student Supervisor Practice Package aims to support practitioners who supervise or are considering supervising allied health students in the disability sector.
The NSW government has released a new set of materials that provide information on best practice principles for Allied Health student supervision.
It has recently been updated to encompass a broader audience of student supervisors from Ageing Disability and Home Care, non- government organisations and private practice.
The Student Supervisor Practice Package highlights the benefits of taking students and outlines considerations for supervising students that will be supporting participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). A variety of flexible student placement models has been outlined to assist organisations with finding a model that best suits their workplace needs. Resources have also been developed to support clinical placements in rural and remote areas as the literature shows that high quality, positive clinical placement experiences for students in rural and remote areas may provide one way to address workforce shortage in these areas.
The Student Supervisor Practice Package is available on the ADHC website, click HERE to access.
