Housing affordability continues to dominate the conversation at a federal and state level, with the NSW government recently pledging $1 billion to tackle the issue.
However, with ABS projections a quarter of Australians will be over 65 years old by 2040, age and disability anti-discrimination commissioner Susan Ryan would like there to be more focus on creating appropriate housing for seniors.
"If, as the federal government has said, it wants to encourage people to live at home into their old age, this needs to be a higher priority for every state and the Commonwealth," Ms Ryan said.
