New quality standards for better aged care

New Aged Care Quality Standards would empower senior Australians and ensure responsibility and accountability for their care, Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Ken Wyatt said this week.

Mr Wyatt said transition to the new quality standards was underway and involved the most significant changes in two decades.

Under the new standards, which were legislated this week, the boards and governing bodies of aged care providers would be clearly accountable for the safety and quality of care for every one of their consumers.
