NDIS COVID-19 data reports and Update from our CEO, Martin

Scheme reform update

There has been a lot of focus on the NDIS in recent weeks.

The Hon Linda Reynolds has been appointed the new Minister for the NDIS and is taking the opportunity to consult further on Scheme reforms, including independent assessments, ahead of releasing draft changes to legislation.

I’ve recorded a short video for participants, their families and carers, and the sector, to let you know where we are in terms of Scheme reforms and set a clear picture of what we’re working towards – ultimately, an affordable Scheme that supports participants to have more control over their supports and their lives.

Watch it on the NDIS website.

NDIS COVID-19 data reports

COVID-19 brought significant changes to the way NDIS and disability support services were offered.

We made changes to assist our participants to stay safe and ensure they were able to continue to access their essential services and supports.

We wanted to understand how the pandemic impacted outcomes for our participants, their families and carers including participants’ experiences with us and allied health services during the pandemic.

As a result we are releasing two reports:

Some of the changes we made during the pandemic have become part of our ongoing, every day practice.

For more information on our support for participants, families and carers during COVID-19, please visit Coronavirus (COVID-19) information and support on our website.

New Individualised Living Option resources

We recently released new and updated resources about Individualised Living Options (ILO), for participants, families, carers and providers.

ILOs aim to give you a greater range of options about how you are supported to live at home.

An ILO support package will help you to work out how you want to live, where you want to live and who you live with.

There are lots of choices with ILO. You can share your home with friends or housemates, or you might live in the home of a host family or on your own with the support you need. To help you understand more about host living arrangements, we have released a Host Handbook.

If you think you want to learn more and explore if ILO is right for you, discuss it with your LAC or Planner at your next planning meeting.

If you have any questions or want further information about ILO learn more visit our website.

Automatic plan extensions

We are committed to giving you more flexibility in your plan and certainty in your supports.

From April to 30 June, if your plan is due to end, you may be eligible to automatically extend your plan, without the need for a plan review.

An automatic plan extension means that instead of getting a new plan, your current plan will continue – with the same funded supports for the same duration as your current plan, up to 12 months.

If your plan review meeting is booked from April to 30 June and you are eligible for an automatic extension, we will get in touch to see if you would like to automatically extend your plan.

You can also contact us to request an automatic plan extension. We will discuss the options and let you know if you are eligible.

Learn more.
