Disability advocates are concerned people with disabilities will not be adequately represented under changes to the sector proposed by the Federal Government.
Peak bodies representing people with disabilities have been told to re-apply for their Commonwealth funding because of changes recently made to the Department of Social Services.
Current funding available is only $2.5 million per year for all peak bodies combined, which is very modest and these current peak bodies will be reduced from thirteen to only seven or less with only $300,000 allocated to each.
