SHARING DIRECTIONS - A two-day symposium on Ageing, Disability and Diversity in Northern NSW

Carers, community representatives and service providers involved in aged care and disability services throughout northern New South Wales are cordially invited to participate in this special two-day symposium.

The Symposium is an initiative of Southern Cross University's Aged Services Learning and Research Centre in conjunction with the Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care. It will take place in Coffs Harbour on the beautiful NSW Mid-North Coast.

It will provide a forum to showcase and explore the ideas behind a diversity approach, how they relate to person-centred thinking and how they can underpin our work with older people, younger people with disabilities and carers. Participants will have an opportunity to interact in workshops and panel discussions with community and academic leaders and will take home inspiration and practical new ideas to implement.

Keynote speakers include:

• Associate Professor Matthew Parsons, Co-Director, Older People Translational Research Agency at the University of Auckland who will present on ‘Do older people need (care) managing?’

• Maria Dimopoulous of Myriad Consultants who will lead an workshop on ‘Exploring perceptions of Ageing and Disability in a Diverse Society’

• Deb Watson from Helen Sanderson and Associates who will speak on ‘Person Centred Planning’
