Inclusive OT: KITCHEN MODIFICATIONS TRAINING DAY

1-day workshop aimed at novice home modifications practitioners, new graduates, or more experienced OTs looking to spruce up their OT toolkit.

 This workshop is for occupational therapists interested in building their skills in functional kitchen assessments to inform task & environmental modification in a meal preparation environment. They will explore the benefit of partial modifications and full kitchen re-design. This unique event is a must for OT clinicians who want to prescribe kitchen and meal preparation solutions that are functional, backed by clinical evidence and matched well to the individual's goals and home environment.

Learning Objectives: Participants will explore & identify how OT clinical reasoning is used to prescribe partial and full kitchen modifications.

By the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply kitchen planning theory
  • Apply kitchen planning practice and task analysis
  • Recognise the kitchen as a multi-user space and apply universal design principles to accommodate for all ability levels
  • Identify accessible design principles used in partial and full kitchen modifications
  • Learn about the products and processes when looking at a range of cabinetry options and fittings
