2018 Workshop: Advanced Home Modifications - Brisbane (NT-Qld)

The advanced home modifications workshop aims to provide occupational therapy practitioners with:

  •     Information on the rights of a private home owner when modifying their own home
  •     An understanding of common barriers in the home, and the range of minor and major home modification solutions (through presentation of photos and case studies)
  •     Information on frameworks for the review of products to determine their suitability for use in home modification practice
  •     Practice reviewing a plan and redesigning a home using a complex case study
  •     Resource information to enhance practice


OUTCOMES:

  •     Knowledge of organisations to contact to discuss the rights of private home owners who may be experiencing difficulty with the design or construction professional completing the home modification work
  •     Knowledge of typical barriers and minor and major modification solutions that may be encountered by a range of people with diverse needs
  •     Knowledge of three frameworks that can be used to evaluate products and designs for a diversity of users
  •     Skills in reviewing a plan and problem solving redesign of areas to suit a complex case study
  •     Knowledge of resource information to assist practice
