What is the Coefficient of Friction (COF)?

Last Updated

The Coefficient of Friction givens an indication of the slip resistance of a surface. The coefficient of friction value is expressed as a number between 0.0 and 1.0. The closer the number is to 1.0 the greater the slip resistance provided. Surfaces with high coefficients of friction (COF 0.6 or higher) are generally rough and hence provide grip for the person during movement.
